Miguel Ángel Martínez

Miguel Ángel has nearly 20 years of experience as researcher, research and innovation manager, scientific advisor, and policy officer. He has worked at the science-policy interface for both the UK Government and the European Union, focusing on climate change issues.

After completing his PhD, he joined the University of Southampton (UK) as postdoctoral researcher in Earth Sciences, where he was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship. He then became Head of Climate Science at the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change, managing the UK’s Climate Programme and advising on climate change science (and its links to policy). In 2017, he joined the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, where he was involved in the early development of Horizon Europe’s Mission Adaptation. Since 2020, Miguel Ángel has been part of EIT Urban Mobility in a range of operational roles.

He holds a BSc, Master and PhD in Environmental Sciences by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
